Minor Concessions

Today's run was the toughest of my training so far. My legs were sore even after stretching today. I tried to run but couldn't keep it going for any prolonged period of time because my right calf kept cramping. I must admit that I walked for most of my four mile run. I have run through the pain before but today just wasn't the day.

I felt a little like a quitter until I saw this month's issue of runner's world. A happy reminder came in the mail today that it is normal to feel muscle pain and fatigue in the early stages of training if you are really pushing yourself. The article advised slowing down and assessing the situation. If you are experiencing pain, walking or stretching might help.
